Say 'No' To The World!
The world is calling you - literally. Perhaps you got that phone message on your answering machine about that special "vacation deal" to Sin City Las Vegas which you "just won". Yes, they told you that you could sin all you want, and that "whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". It's a sinner's paradise -- or so they said. They want you to come over there and sin a while. Oh, and they said to bring lots of money -- you're gonna need it.
Yes, those "sin pushers" in the world will never be satisfied unless you join them in traveling down that "Roman Road" leading to perdition and destruction in the flames of Hell. Las Vegas is calling. Will you heed the call?
Now, why do people go to today's Sodom, called Las Vegas? Sure, there are many conventions and other business events there in Las Vegas. But why are such events held there in Las Vegas, and not somewhere else? You already know the reason. Having such an event in Las Vegas provides an excuse for wicked sinning under the "cloak" of going on a "business trip". That way a man can tell his wife that he "has to go" on a "business trip" (which just happens to be at Las Vegas. But that man knows full well what he will be spending most of his time doing in Las Vegas - sinning.
Now, let's face it. You love to go to Las Vegas. You love it. And why do you love it? You love it because it is "Sin City" Las Vegas. You love Las Vegas because you love sin.
Now, Las Vegas is only one example of the world's sin. The world's sin is all around you. The billboards try to get you to commit sin. The radio is filled with sinful music and commercials to try to get you to sin, and even worse: television. Television is replete with advertising geared to entice you to commit sin. Most sitcoms and other programs are also generally filled with sin. Why, that of course is why you love to watch so many hours of television. You love sin, and television's bowl is filled up to the brim with your next bowl of sin.
Sin always results in lots of problems. Sin causes trouble for you. It costs money, often lots of money. Sin creates relationship problems with your family and friends. Sin hurts your conscience and puts you farther away from God.
But sin is also only temporary. After you sin, you are left empty inside. The pleasures of that fleeting moment are gone, and now you are left with nothing - only a few memories of so-called "good times", (i.e. bad times), as you wallowed in the mire with the pigs. So, in a sense, that slogan is right: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas because those pleasures were only for the moment, and now you are left both poor and empty inside.
How old are you now? And how long do you expect to live? What if you live to be seventy or even one hundred years of age? Can you take anything the world offers you with you when you die? The Bible says:
"The world passeth away and the lust thereof". (1 John 2:17)
Soon enough you will die. And you don't even know what the future holds for you. Your death might be decades from now. But then again, it might come this year. In fact, the end might be tomorrow or even today. You have no assurance of even a minute more of life. And when you die, you die. That's it. And then what?
After you die, your relatives will probably start fighting over your possessions. As Job once said:
"Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return" (Job 1:21)
No, naked you will return back to the dust. You cannot take anything of this world with you when you die. It will all be left behind. What an empty life you will have had if you live your life just to commit sin. All Satan's apples do have worms in them.
You will be left with nothing but the coming Judgment by God for your sins. You will be judged, and cast into Hell. In Hell you will never again be able to commit any of those sins you love so much, and you will pay for those sins you committed while you were alive. What a waste to live your whole life for sin, and then spend Eternity in the flames of Hell paying for it.
Jesus promises you Eternity in Heaven if you turn from your sins and come to Him. In fact, Jesus promises you a mansion in glory on streets of gold for all Eternity. Las Vegas cannot compare. Is not Heaven with Jesus better that any sin that the world has or could ever offer you?
Therefore, say no the world. The world is heading in the wrong direction. Reject the world. Reject sin. Trust Jesus and be ready for Heaven when you die. Do it today.
